Abner Vandiver

Bankruptcy lawyer and owner of the practice

I grew up watching my parents carry a line of credit through two bad harvest years. No one ever explained their options to them.

My family ran a feed store south of Tulsa. When the wheat came in short, the store carried the farmers, and the bank carried us. I remember the kitchen-table nights better than the good years.

After law school I took a job at a firm that collected consumer debts for lenders. It paid the loans, and it taught me the other side’s playbook: how accounts are bought and sold, which paperwork is missing more often than not, and how few people ever answer a lawsuit.

I opened this office to put that knowledge to work for the people I used to send letters to. I keep the caseload small enough that I know each file without opening it, and I return calls the day they come in.

Outside the office I coach a youth soccer team in Kendall-Whittier and read more Oklahoma history than anyone has asked me to.

An office you can find, with parking behind it

The office is on the second floor at 1630 South Boston Avenue, south of downtown, with free parking behind the building. If daytime is hard, Thursday evenings are kept for first conversations, and phone or video works just as well.

A quiet private office with a dark wooden desk, two lamps and a tall window onto trees

Talk it over before you decide anything

A first conversation is free, and nothing is filed until you say so.
